Over a two-day period, the EU-Rail Project FP6-FutuRe team convened in Vienna for an in-person meeting with a primary focus on Work Packages 4 (WP4-Requirements Specification) and 9 (WP9 – Demonstration). WP4, which has now been successfully concluded, centered on defining the technical and operational requirements for cost- and energy-efficient next-generation regional railway assets and communication systems. This work has provided a critical foundation for the development of demonstrators in WP9.
A dedicated “Lessons Learned” session was held during the event to review WP4’s challenges, strengths, and areas for potential improvement. The insights gathered from this session are set to inform WP9, ensuring a more efficient, goal-oriented approach as the project transitions from theoretical planning to practical application. The discussions underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and effective knowledge transfer between WP4 and WP9.
Significant progress was achieved during the meeting, marked by two key milestones:
The team extends its sincere gratitude to all participants for their enthusiasm, insights, and dedication. The collaborative efforts and shared discussions are pivotal to driving innovation and achieving the project’s strategic goals.
