Using Incremental Train Timetabling in Case of a Temporary Capacity Restrictions

Mikael Fredriksson and Carl Henrik Häll from FP1-MOTIONAL project presented their work titled “Using Incremental Train Timetabling in Case of a Temporary Capacity Restrictions.” at the Swedish Transport Research Conference 2025 (STRC2025), held on 22–23 October 2025 in Norrköping, Sweden,
Their presentation introduced a model and tool developed within Work Packages 6 and 7 of this project. These have been designed to support the re-scheduling of train timetables when temporary capacity restrictions occur. The approach enables more efficient adjustments to existing timetables, minimising disruption and maintain reliability during periods of reduced network capacity.
The presentation took place within the conference session “Railway Network Optimisation & Traffic Flow,” which gathered researchers and practitioners working on related aspects of railway operations and planning. The session fostered lively discussions and fruitful exchanges of knowledge, offering valuable insights into the current developments and future directions of railway network optimisation.
