Successful MOTIONAL Plenary meeting in Munich – Advancing the Future of European Rail Traffic Management

On 29 and 30 October, the FP1-MOTIONAL project partners gathered in the beautiful city of Munich for a productive two-day Plenary meeting. With the final year of the project fast approaching, the event focused on the demonstrations progress and planning impactful dissemination activities to showcase our project results.
Throughout the meeting, participants worked collaboratively to define five “Demo Dissemination Events” that will present and communicate the project’s demonstrations in a unified and engaging way. These events will serve as a compelling storyline to highlight around 80 individual demonstrations conducted during the first project phase (Wave 1). The aim is to raise awareness of the research outcomes and share knowledge across the European rail community.
The plenary meeting featured “demo sales pitches”, interactive group discussions, and breakout sessions to cluster demonstrations and shape the narrative for each event, which are planned for spring 2026. Practical aspects such as timing, location, key messages, and event leadership were also discussed.
Highlights of the agenda included presentations from leading partners such as Hacon, Trafikverket, ADIF/RENFE, DB, and DLR along with sessions on dissemination strategy, event clustering, and exploitation activities. The meeting concluded with a visit to the Knorr-Bremse test centre, underlining the project’s strong link between research and real-world industry application.
The successful collaboration and clear progress made during the Munich meeting mark an important milestone for FP1-MOTIONAL, paving the way towards an interoperable, digitalised, and resilient European railway system that truly serves as the backbone of sustainable multimodal transport.
Stay tuned for more FP1 updates about our dissemination events next year!
