Improved strategic and tactical planning by capacity simulation
FP1-MOTIONAL project’s Work Package 9 (WP9) team members from NS, ProRail, SNCF, ADIF, INDRA, CAF, CEIT, Trafikverket have met in Utrecht (Netherlands) on 8 and 9 October 2025 for another productive session. The topics discussed covered the upcoming deliverables and demonstrators for the improved railway traffic simulation methods and models developed by the team to improve the capacity, punctuality, reliability and efficiency of railway operations. In order to achieve a future proof rail system platform, WP9 team have been investigating the integration of various technologies such as: Connected Driver Advisory Systems (C-DAS), Automated Train Operation (ATO), European Train Control System level 2 (ETCS L2) with optimised braking curves, and ETCS Hybrid Level 3.
