Europe's Rail at InnoTrans 2026
The Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking teamed up together with the European Commission and the European Union Agency for Railways for InnoTrans 2026 “The Future of Mobility”. A joint stand (Hall 4.2, Stand 260) hosted numerous events and showcased some of the latest rail innovations through demonstrations, information points and presentations from EU-Rail projects. A European Train arrived in Berlin from Brussels, bringing together over 300 participants representing the entire EU rail sector.

European Train heading to InnoTrans 2026
The European train brought the railway community to InnoTrans for the second time. It united the entire rail ecosystem, including European institutions, passengers, trade unions, industry and associations, making the journey a space to connect, engage in discussions and network around the future of rail transport in Europe.

EU-Rail at InnoTrans 2026 — Day 1 (22 September)
The first day of InnoTrans 2026 brought a vibrant day full of celebration, innovation and high-level exchanges.
The day celebrated women driving change in the railway sector with the 2026 Women in Rail Award, welcoming the InnoTrans VIP Tour at the European Stand and guiding visitors through cutting-edge innovations throughout the fair with the Innovation Tours. At the European Stand, visitors saw the impact of the EU-Rail JU programme come to life through more than 13 physical and 20 virtual demonstrations, showcasing tangible innovations that visitors could see, experience and imagine shaping the future of rail.

EU-Rail at InnoTrans 2026 — Day 2 (23 September)
The second day of InnoTrans 2026 got into full swing as Europe’s Rail highlighted a series of key innovations and discussions across the programme.
Demonstration on Autonomous Rail Operation and a DAC High-Level Demonstration showcased how digitalisation and automation are transforming European rail. On the EU-Rail stage, Executive Director Giorgio Travaini highlighted the key role of railway innovation in cutting costs and boosting global competitiveness, while Head of System Pillar Ian Conlon called for support for a European ERTMS deal and provided our perspective on climate-proofing and cybersecurity in rail. Throughout the day, five Innovation Tours gave participants a chance to explore Europe’s Rail members’ initiatives in assets, operations and services.

EU-Rail at InnoTrans 2026 — Day 3 (24 September)
The last day of InnoTrans 2026 brought a full programme of panel discussions on the Central Stage of the European Stand, covering a wide variety of key topics for the contemporary railway system while looking ahead to the future.
The last day’s programme could be summed up by the keywords “new technologies” and “the digitalisation of rail freight“, as virtual demonstrations from EU-Rail flagship areas took place at the European Stand, alongside two DAC demonstrations at the HVLE station in Spandau.

Physical Demonstrations from EU-Rail projects
The rich and diverse physical demonstration programme showcased technologies from Europe’s Rail projects.
These included 3D printing and additive manufacturing, an augmented reality system for railway maintenance and a virtual reality solution for civil infrastructure asset management.
System Pillar and High-Level Deployment Group Information Points
A programme of virtual demonstrations at the Information point showcased the latest advances from the EU-Rail System Pillar and High-Level Deployment Group. The programme highlighted innovative technologies, operational concepts, and deployment-ready solutions for the future of rail.
Virtual Demonstrations of EU-Rail projects
Virtual Demos were showcased at the Information Point at EU-Rail stand, covering various projects and outputs. These demonstrations highlighted how information, monitoring, modelling and intelligent maintenance approaches are increasingly becoming essential elements of railway asset management.
Sessions at the Stand Central Stage
Europe’s Rail organised several sessions and panels at the central stage in our stand, n. 260 in Hall 4.2., throughout InnoTrans.
