The Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking (S2R JU) has had a strong presence at its first appearance at InnoTrans, the largest rail fair in the world –presenting the first results of the initiative, barely two years after its creation.
Wednesday, 19 September
At 10.00, Shift2Rail presents its vision of the future at the InnoTrans Speakers’ Corner. Giorgio Travaini, Head of Research & Innovation at Shift2Rail, together with Shift2Rail Innovation Programme Managers Léa Paties and Lucas Garvía give a one-hour presentation on the work within Shift2Rail to develop the railway systems of the future, based on automated and connected mobility and seamless travelling.
The Speakers’ Corner is located at Hall 15.2, near the East Entrance. Full programme is available here.
The presentation provides details on the technologies that will drive this transformation forward: Advanced ATO, ‘Moving block’ technology, GNSS positioning, virtual coupling and many others.
At 12.00, Shift2Rail is participating in the 3rd InnoTrans Luncheon for Women in Mobility, which provides a platform for leading women in the transport sector to foster cooperation and exchange ideas. The event, a joint initiative by associations and the industry, aims to boost the percentage of women in the transport sector. ]
The Women in Mobility Luncheon was organised to strengthen women’s position in the transport sector. The organising platform aims to increase the presence of women from 20% to 40% by 2020.
At 15.00, Shift2Rail is participating in the 2018 ERCI Innovation Awards ceremony with Executive Director Carlo Borghini delivering a keynote speech at the event. The awards support innovations implemented by enterprises to meet pressing mobility needs of Europe’s passenger and freight transport services.
The event is organised by the ERCI (European Railway Clusters Initiative), the European network of Innovative Railway Clusters, which unites 11 innovation clusters from 9 countries representing about 1.000 SMEs. The objective is to promote the competitiveness of the rail industry and to create new business opportunities.
