May 18, 2026

The FP1 MOTIONAL Dissemination Event, held in Madrid at ADIF Rail Operations Training Centre on 7th of May in a hybrid format, marked a crucial moment for the future of European rail travel. Organized by Adif and Renfe, this key event brought together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders in the rail sector under the theme “Seamless & Inclusive Mobility – One Europe, one journey, zero barriers for all passengers.”

The event started with insightful keynote speeches from executives at local infrastructure manager and railway operator, offering valuable perspectives on the strategic importance of these innovations for the future of European rail. This was followed by a compelling video showcasing the vision of seamless and inclusive mobility, bringing FP1 MOTIONAL’s ambitions and achievements to life through the perspectives of both passengers and operators.

Key Highlights and Achievements:

The core focus of the event was to showcase groundbreaking integrated digital solutions poised to transform the passenger experience and enhance operational resilience across Europe’s rail network. Among the significant achievements:

  • Showcasing 15 Innovative Demonstrators: Results from 15 innovative demonstrators were presented by a wide range of FP1 partners including Adif, Renfe, Indra, ETRA, SJ, DB, Hacon, and Hitachi. These advancements demonstrated that a more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly travel experience for all passengers is possible through innovative solutions. A magazine with all use-cases was produced and is available on the FP1 site.
  • Validation of Integrated Digital Solutions: The validation of these demonstrators’ underscores FP1 MOTIONAL’s progress in developing  digital solutions designed to enhance accessibility for passengers, improve travel convenience, strengthen operational resilience, and support seamless multimodal mobility across Europe.
  • Showcase of Use Cases: Participants engaged with a series of use cases, fostering interactive discussions and invaluable knowledge exchange among experts. These showcased the  interoperability with different transport systems, advanced forecasting tools, intuitive in-door guidance systems, and robust disruption-management tools.

Outcomes and Future Trajectory for European Rail:

These innovative solutions, a direct outcome of FP1 MOTIONAL, are set to deliver a smoother and more inclusive journey for passengers. They focus on providing real-time information and proactive responses to unforeseen challenges, thereby streamlining the overall rail travel experience.

The event culminated in a thought-provoking roundtable discussion, exploring the broader implications and exciting future trajectory of these transformative technologies for European rail, all significantly influenced by the advancements of FP1 MOTIONAL. This event underscored a clear message: European rail is evolving, creating a truly unified, accessible, and resilient network for everyone’s journey.
