Digital Automatic Coupling at Transport Logistic online
Date: 5 May
An information session involving a discussion with experts will take place on 5 May at the Transport Logistic event online, where the European DAC Delivery Programme will be presented.
Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC) is considered a key technology for efficient, digital rail freight transport of the future as it aims to increase the capacity of railways. The European transport ministers put DAC at the top of their agenda in 2020 in the “Berlin Declaration”. The European DAC Delivery Programme has started its work, while the DAC4EU demonstrator train is now running on rails.
Where are we now? How far have the plans for a Europe-wide migration of the new clutch technology come? Is there an agreement on a uniform technical standard? How does the migration process need to be designed in order to take into account the interests of all actors involved, also with regard to financing wagon keepers as well as RUs or shippers?
