As Europe’s railways expand, their safety and efficiency depend increasingly on knowing every train’s position....
Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) published its Call for Proposals 2020 that among other topics includes funding opportunities for project ideas in the area of hydrogen trains.
Last year Shift2Rail and FCH JU launched a “Study on the use of fuel cells and hydrogen in the railway environment” assessing the use of FCH technology in different rail applications. With the FCH Call for Proposals 2020 it is now possible to get funding for project ideas helping to extend the use cases for FCH trains in Europe and take further the work started with the joint study. The maximum funding that may be requested for a project working in the area is 10 million euros with an expected duration of 4 years. Among other requirements, proposals for projects are also expected to make reference to the Shift2Rail JU and FCH JU common study on the use of hydrogen in railways.
