Article 15 (Principle of transparency) of the EU-Rail financial rules states that the JU shall make available on its internet site no later than 30 June of the following financial year information on the recipients of funds deriving from its budget.

In the framework of Connecting Europe Days 2026, EU-Rail organises a high-level side event “ERTMS Deal – Kick-starting ERTMS Deployment in Europe”.
The event will bring together key industrial stakeholders and policymakers to discuss the “ERTMS Deal”, the Commission’s proposal on how to accelerate the deployment of ERTMS in Europe. Deployment has been slowed by fragmentation, making it complex and costly, and resulting in a lack of out-of-the-box compatibility between infrastructure and vehicle equipment. To address these challenges, the European Commission is proposing an “ERTMS Deal”, consisting of a European blueprint for ERTMS, a funding condition through a “Single European Rail Area label”, and a fast-track approval process by the EU Agency for Railways for compliant projects.
Participants will debate the momentum for and the practical implementation of a shift away from the current fragmented approach to ERTMS deployment towards a standardised solution, enabling cost reductions and faster deployment.
A coordinated action by Member States, industry, and stakeholders to prioritise standardised solutions and ensure more effective use of EU funding is fundamental for concretely delivering the “ERTMS Deal” as a solution to kick-start ERTMS deployment in Europe.
The event will feature a structured programme comprising keynote speeches, followed by two moderated panel discussions to explore key themes in greater depth. Dedicated networking opportunities will also be provided throughout the afternoon to facilitate exchange among participants.
