FP3-IAM4Rail Project Celebrates its Mid-Term Event in Paris

The FP3-IAM4Rail project recently held its Mid-Term Event at the prestigious UIC headquarters in Paris, bringing together partners, stakeholders, academia and industry experts. The event provided a platform to reflect on the project’s progress, share insights and outline the next steps for shaping the future of railway innovation.

Key Highlights of the Event:

  • Opening Speeches:
    • Sébastien Denis (Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking) emphasised the role of innovation in advancing sustainable and digital rail infrastructure.
    • Arianna Amati (Hitachi) underlined the importance of collaboration and technological advancements for smarter and safer railways.
    • David Villalmanzo Resusta (Project Coordinator) celebrated the collective efforts behind FP3-IAM4Rail and encouraged continued innovation.
  • Panel Discussions: Experts engaged in dynamic discussions on critical topics, including:
  1. Digital Asset Management: exploring cost-efficient, AI-driven solutions.
  2. Rolling Stock Innovations: strategies for enhanced reliability and data-driven management.
  3. Sustainable Technologies: balancing environmental responsibility with operational excellence.
  4. Future Trends: predictive analytics, Digital Twins and multi-purpose monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrator Showcases:
    The event featured four cutting-edge demonstrators, such as the PRIME robotIAMS platformLEONARDO reality model, and the CEMBOX digital twin, illustrating practical innovations in robotic maintenance, AI-based inspection and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Collaborative Round Table: the day concluded with a discussion on stakeholder engagement, emphasising the importance of harmonisation, highlighting the need for working together, using data to guide decisions and focusing on practical results for users.

Takeaways from the Coordinator:

David Villalmanzo Resusta summarised three key insights:

  1. The need for actionable, user-aligned data collection methods.
  2. The importance of harmonising frameworks for diagnostic integration.
  3. A call for practical, results-driven cooperation among stakeholders.
