Europe’s Rail November 2024 newsletter is now live, packed with the latest insights from the European rail research...
On these past three days the Shift2Rail stand has been buzzing with excitement, curious conversations and vivid activity. It has drawn a large number of visitors interested in new forms of mobility. On DAY 4 at InnoTrans visitors have the final opportunity to engage with our interactive demos, exchange ideas with our demo managers and experts and discover the railway systems of the future.
Today on the agenda:
10.00 am: Modular interior design
11.00 am: Project presentation on freight transport
All day:
Obstacle detection System: A novel integrated multi-sensor on-board obstacle detection system for freight trains, developed within the Shift2Rail initiative, combines different vision technologies to identify obstacles beyond 200m, the current state-of-art, and up to 1000m.
Smart Metering: The smart metering demo presents a HoloLens 3D Augmented Reality experience to enable visitors to fully immerse themselves in the process of smart metering.
Noise Auralisation and visualisation: This Shift2Rail demonstration offers visitors a virtual reality experience in which they can discover what the next generation of trains will sound like. Thanks to 3D virtual reality glasses and headphones connected to a screen, they can experience a very realistic demonstration of how different strategies curb noise levels inside and outside of trains.
Digital Brake Test: Visitors at our stand are invited to enter a driver’s cabin to discover how the digital brake test will make freight trains enter the digital future. They will be greeted by a train driver inviting them to activate a simulated brake test demonstrating how automatic tests will make brake checks much faster and efficient.
Towards Seamless and Multimodal door-to-door travel: At Shift2Rail stand at InnoTrans, visitors can test a preliminary version of a new multi-modal booking system using a smartphone –and experience a simulation on how the system can make a trip between Madrid and Berlin much simpler and stress free, including the planning, tracking and after sales services.
