The FP6 FutuRe consortium is pleased to invite railway stakeholders, infrastructure managers, railway undertakings, industry representatives, research organisations, European institutions and policy makers to the FP6 FutuRe Final Event, taking place in Brussels on November 4th – 5th, 2026, and hosted by Wabtec.

The event represents the final milestone of the FP6 FutuRe project and will provide an opportunity to showcase project achievements, present the innovative solutions developed throughout the programme and discuss future perspectives for the revitalisation of regional railways across Europe.

Building on the discussions initiated during the FP6 Mid-Term Event held in 2025, the Final Event will bring together experts from across the European railway sector to exchange experiences, review lessons learnt and explore opportunities for future innovation actions supporting regional and low-density rail networks.

Preliminary Programme

Day 1 – November 4th, 2026 (Hybrid – Teams link to be published)

  • Opening session and welcome addresses.
  • Perspectives from EU-Rail, project leadership and invited stakeholders.
  • FP6 FutuRe results overview.
  • Stakeholder round table on the future of regional railways.
  • Presentation of project results across the main FP6 thematic areas:
    • Regional Rail System Architecture and Solutions
    • CCS & Operations for G1 Lines (interface directly with core mainline infrastructure)
    • CCS & Operations for G2 Lines (operate in isolation from mainlines)
    • Rail Assets
    • Rolling Stock
    • Rail Services
  • Networking opportunities

Day 2 – 5 November 5th, 2026 (On-site only)

  • FP6 Demonstrators Workshop.
  • Interactive demonstration experience based on dedicated “demo islands”.
  • Live demonstrations of selected FP6 innovations.
  • Technical exchanges with project experts and demonstrator teams.
