FP3 – IAM4RAIL workshop to explore innovative approaches to long-term railway asset management
22 June 2026
Researchers, infrastructure managers and railway professionals are invited to participate in the Workshop on Long-Term Asset Management, taking place on 22 June 2026 from 13:00 to 17:00. The event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either online or in person at the premises of Trafikverket, located at Sundsbacken 2–4, Luleå, Sweden.
The workshop will focus on the work carried out within Work Package 8 (WP8) of the FP3-IAM4RAIL project, highlighting the latest developments in decision-support models and tools designed to improve railway asset management practices. The session will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing emerging methodologies and exploring innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of railway infrastructure maintenance.
Participants will gain insights into a wide range of topics related to long-term asset management, including the management of dynamic maintenance programmes and their resource-effective execution. The agenda will also address bridge modelling and Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimation, as well as the use of simulated availability approaches for maintenance optimisation and tamping schedule planning.
Additional discussions will focus on wheel–rail forces and rail damage, together with onboard condition monitoring technologies for vehicle–track interaction. Experts will also present advances in the management of track geometry, rail defects, switches and crossings (S&C) deterioration and track buckling. The workshop will conclude with perspectives on integrating dynamic maintenance programmes into train planning processes.
The event represents an important opportunity for stakeholders across the railway sector to exchange experiences and learn about the latest research outcomes contributing to more effective and data-driven asset management strategies.
Those wishing to attend are requested to register by sending an email with the subject line “IAM4RAIL WS – 22 June” to . Participants should indicate whether they intend to join online or in person. The deadline for registration is 18 June 2026.
