Assessment and Classification for Alternative Bearers and Alternative Bearers/Traditional Bearers comparison
Description: This document aims to analyse the economic aspects of the adoption of the eligible Alternative Bearers (ABs) in a railway context, and to compare the eligible ABs with the Traditional Bearers (TBs). The eligible ABs are: Free Space Optics (FSO), Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite and High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS).
Target audience: All rail stakeholders
How it brings us closer to achieving better rail for Europe: It completes the overall assessment on ABs real applicability in a rail context, by providing the analysis of economic impact and the business case of the eligible ABs (FSO, LEO and HAPS) and by identifying the impact of ABs on the existing rail infrastructure. It also provides an integration analysis of Traditional Bearers i.e., 4G, 5G, and Sat-GEO.

Implementation of DT concept both at equipment and system level for future 9 kV MVDC systems integrating Renewable Energy Sources are promising technologies to overcome the limitations and complexities of ERPS.

Description: The report provides guidance on the pre-standardisation processes coming from R&I for the emergence and development of standardisation proposals and for an efficient connection to the standardisation bodies.
