As Europe’s railways expand, their safety and efficiency depend increasingly on knowing every train’s position....
Throughout the European Year of Skills 2023, we publish a video series on our YouTube channel. Watch as we share personal experiences of our Founding Members, partners, and staff through video messages, encouraging young people to build their careers in rail.
Learn directly from people in the industry what are the skills you can develop while working in rail, what skills are necessary to have and what skills are used daily. This way we are putting skills centre-stage and promoting a mindset of reskilling and upskilling. We are bringing organisations and people together to share their experiences and insights.
This month, hear from employees from two of our Founding Members, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) and ProRail. Get to know Ms Hesther Platenkamp, Programme Manager at NS, Mr Dennis Veld and Ms Bente Yedema, Programme Managers at ProRail, and Ms Célia Cannappah, PhD Candidate at Universiteit Twente as they share their experiences.
NS strives to provide convenient, fast, safe, and affordable travel and to ensure that people can reach their destinations in a sustainable manner. The company is developing into a broad service provider that works with other companies to offer the customer the option of ‘smart’ travel based on the most up-to-date information. ProRail is responsible for the maintenance, renewal, expansion, and safety of the Dutch railway network. As an independent party, the company divides the space on 7,000 kilometres of track, regulates all train traffic and builds and manages stations.
