On Tuesday 26 November, our Senior Programme Manager, Ms Léa Paties,  takes part in a panel titled “The future of satelite-based train control: Use cases, innovation and challenges” from 12:30 – 13:10 CET. During the session, the participants will identify the challenges in achieving interoperability with train control and communications and discover the potential advantages of integrating satellite into control systems and how are these being exploited. Finally, the panel will address the regulatory and technical considerations regarding satellite-based train controls.

Our Programme Manager and Seconded National Expert, Mr Karel van Gils will participate in a panel from 15:40 – 16:20 CET on “Ensuring a seamless transition to FRMCS”. During this session the focus will be on collaboration as a means to overcome challenges with FRMCS rollout and the impacts on rail safety and efficiency across different regions and systems.

From 15:40 – 16:20 CET, Mr Ian Conlon, the Head of System Pillar at Europe’s Rail will join a panel on “How can we strike a balance between digital infrastructure innovations and legacy systems?”. The Panel wil delve into managing the complexities of integrating modern infrastructure into legacy systems, the optimisation of existing systems, and the trade-offs when retrofitting legacy infrastructure.

Starting of the day, our Executive Director, Mr Giorgio Travaini, will participate in a panel titled “Delivering on digital transformation in rail: Stepping up to meet customer expectations with an effective innovation strategy” from 10:00 – 10:30 CET.

Finally, our Senior Programme Manager, Javier Ibáñez de Yrigoyen, takes part in a panel on “How can digital transformation help freight rail attract market share?” from 12:30 – 13:10, which will focus on the steps that need to be taken to increase freight’s market share and how to  compete with road and aviation.
